New Liffey Rivers Thriller Unfolds
Under Celtic Blood Moon
The ancient Celtic Blood Moon
summons 13-year-old Irish dancer
Liffey Rivers back to Ireland, plunging
her into deadly danger as she
searches for the mysterious woman
who wears a diamond ‘M,’ on the
summit of the Mountain of the Moon.
Sligo, Ireland. September 1, 2008--
13-year-old Irish dancer Liffey Rivers
finds herself summoned back to
Ireland by the ancient Celtic Blood
Moon and plunged into deadly danger
in the much anticipated third book of
the Liffey Rivers Irish Dancer Mystery
Series: Liffey Rivers and The Secret of
the Mountain of the Moon, by Brenna
Briggs. (ISBN (10): 1419652907; ISBN
(13): 9781419652905, 178 pages,
perfect/trade paper: $13.99).
According to Briggs, “I originally
created high-strung Irish dancer Liffey
Rivers to address, what I believe to be,
some of the emotional stress the world
of competitive Irish dancing causes
many of its young dancers. And since I
have never quite managed to say
good-bye to my imaginary ‘best friend,’
the immortal sleuth, Nancy Drew, Liffey
Rivers became a girl detective.”
“Michael Flatley, with his amazing
dancing ability and choreographic
genius breathed new life into the real
world of Irish dancing,” continues
Briggs. “Irish dancer, Liffey Rivers,
offers a breath of fresh air to young
competitive Irish dancers: intrigue and
suspense, along with some painless
Irish history lessons.”
Irish Dance and Cultural Magazine
says, “Liffey Rivers...will keep you
guessing right through to the end,
starring a quirky Irish dancer who
should not be underestimated!”

Following the critically acclaimed first book of the Liffey Rivers Irish Dancer series, Brockagh Books has launched the sequel: Liffey Rivers and the Mystery of the Winking Judge by Brenna Briggs.
County Sligo, Ireland. March 13, 2007.
Brockagh Books is celebrating this year’s St. Patrick’s Day with the publication of the second book in its Liffey Rivers Irish Dancer-Girl Detective series: Liffey Rivers and the Mystery of the Winking Judge, by Brenna Briggs. (ISBN (10): 1419652907; ISBN (13): 9781419652905, 140 pages, perfect/trade paper $12.99).
There are 228 Irish dance competitions, or feiseanna, scheduled in North America in 2007; 28 are in Canada and 1 is in Mexico. In Europe, countries such as Germany, Poland, Sweden, Spain, Norway, Finland and The Netherlands have joined Ireland and the UK in planning traditional Irish dance competitions. There are even feiseanna set to debut in Moscow and Ukraine in 2007. Irish dancing is well on its way to becoming Ireland’s most popular export.
Author Brenna Briggs has created 13-year-old Irish Dancer- Girl Detective, Liffey Rivers, to subtly fuse the familiar backdrop of an Irish dance competition with “disguised” Irish history and culture information for her readers. For instance, in The Mystery of the Winking Judge, Ms. Briggs introduces ancient Ogham stone letters in a design on Liffey’s first solo competition dress which spells out her last name: R-I-V-E-R-S.
Liffey Rivers and the Mystery of the Winking Judge is available online at Amazon.com, Abebooks.com, Waldenbooks. com and Borders.com. Also independent booksellers, and Borders Books through Baker & Taylor.

Blood Diamonds Prominent In
Liffey Rivers Irish Dancer Mysteries
13-year-old Irish dancer Liffey Rivers
routinely foils flow of Conflict Diamonds
at Irish Dance competitions.
County Sligo, Ireland. February 28,
2009. “My conflict diamond IQ was way
below average when I started writing
the first Liffey Rivers Irish dancer
mystery in 2005,” says Irish-American,
young adult author Brenna Briggs. “I
had heard of illicit diamonds being
smuggled out of Africa to bankroll
rebels before I did research for Liffey
Rivers and the Mystery of the
Sparkling Solo Dress Crown, but I had
no idea of the extent and the
unimaginable atrocities that had
become routine in the blood diamond
networks. It is a relief to learn this week
that more of the Sierra Leone
diamond smugglers have been
convicted of crimes against humanity.”
In several of Briggs’ Irish dancer
mysteries, 13-year-old heroine Liffey
Rivers routinely disrupts international
blood diamond smuggling schemes
while not missing a step at her Irish
dance competitions. “Using the exciting
world of Irish dancing as a backdrop, it
has been possible to describe the
channels through which conflict
diamonds flow to a young audience,”
says Briggs.
The Irish World in London states that
Brenna Briggs “has created the perfect
series of adventures for Irish
dancers....lovers of Ireland and lovers
of a great mystery and a good way for
kids to learn a bit more about...other
cultures.”
The Liffey Rivers Irish Dancer
Mysteries are available online at

young dancers at an Irish dance competition
in Pittsburgh who look like identical twins.
When one of them goes missing, Liffey's
intuition and attention to detail brings about
the safe return of the missing novice. "The

suspecting that a group of klutzy clowns, who
call themselves the Joyful Jesters, might be
up to something more than entertaining their
audience in a small Wisconsin town. In "The
Mystery of the Temporary Trophy," Liffey is at
a feis in New York with her Aunt Jean who is
suffering from Post Traumatic Bling
Syndrome. Liffey observes that one of the
trophies to be awarded at this feis looks
suspiciously like the ancient Derrynaflan
Chalice she has seen before in a Dublin
