in County Sligo.

        Linnet:

The Linnet is a small finch which is
usually found in fields. At the
breeding site, the male sings with
a long and chirpy song. When the
male is in breeding plumage, it has
a red smudge on its breast and
forehead. The rest of the male's
head is grayish and the back of the
head is brown. The female Linnet
is less colorful. In the winter,
males and females look alike.

            LEGEND

This Black Pig sculpture by Cillian
Rogers is in Enniscrone, County Sligo.

Each summer there is a 4 day festival
in Enniscrone, a major seaside resort,
which celebrates the legend of a huge
pig which swam from Donegal Bay,
entered Killala Bay and landed on the
beach at Enniscrone. The pig was
starving and rampaged through the
town. The townspeople made
long-handled spears and chased the
pig out of town to a place called
Muckduff where they killed it. It was so
big they could not move it so they
covered it with clay and it is still there
today.
